Title: RECYCLE: Garbage Recycle Collection with a Mobile Manipulation Robot

Project Description: Garbage existence in urban environments (pavements, parks, underground) is still a huge problem that needs to be handled. This usually requires humans collecting garbage items from the urban settings. These actions may be tedious, time consuming, and affect human’s health. Robot mobile manipulators are designed to aid humans with such cases, due to their impressive mechanical capabilities. The problem of autonomous robotic-based garbage collection includes two problems. First, the localization of garbage in the environment and the detection of their type (glass, paper, plastic, etc), using visual data. Second, the control and planning of the robot to approach and grasp a garbage, and place it in the right bin.
